In 2001, Billie Koppel & Frank Hasselstroem began making music together, under the name CATBIRD. In 2002 CATBIRD performed the new music Frank had arranged and produced for the ballet "Triumph Of The Death" (by Flemming Flindt) at The Oestre Gasvaerk Theater in Copenhagen.
Their debut album "Sliding From The Moon" from 2003 was nominated for "Best Singer Of The Year" (Billie) and "Best Producer Of The Year" (Frank) at the Danish Music Awards 2003. They were also nominated at the Danish Radios P3-prize for for "Best New Act". They were in heavy rotation on dansih radio that year, also as “Ugens uundgåelige”.
In 2008 CATBIRD released their second album intitled “Among Us”. With this album, they made a huge genre and style leap. The album was recorded with musicians such as Jakob Bro (Bill Frisell, Teitur), Raul Rekow (Aretha Franklin, Santana).
“Among Us” recieved fantastic reviews and gained new friends & fans around the world. In 2009 they went on the “Among Us Tour 2009”. CATBIRD are now (2010) making songs for their 3rd album (TBA).
